CELEBRATING SIX MONTHS OF PUTTING DOWN ROOTS AND GROWING STRONG IN OAKHURST!

This Sunday marks Eastside Church’s first six months of worship in our neighborhood home, and we continue to grow stronger every week! Thank you to everyone who has joined us along the way and supported us in our vision of an authentic and faithful expression of historic Christianity that is indigenous to the diverse culture and spirit of Oakhurst, Decatur, and the east side of Atlanta! Please continue to invite your friends, family, and neighbors to join us for a worship service, spread the word online via social media, and direct folks to our website at www.eastsideatl.org.

Thank you to everyone who took the covenant classes last Saturday and yesterday, and to Zach Eyster and David Carr who helped teach them. We had a great time and a wonderful turnout.

We are in need of a volunteer to coordinate a card ministry for thank you notes and for those who have had surgery, have lost loved ones, or who just need an encouragement. Please contact Elisabeth Lloyd (elisabeth@eastsideatl.org) for more information.

Please check out the lost-and-found bin by the coffee bar after church to see if any of the items are yours, as we will be giving them away after next Sunday, Feb. 5.

Thanks to the hard work of Mary Beth Jones, your 2011 Eastside Church Giving Statements are now available on the table in the rear of the sanctuary by the sound booth. Please note that those of you who gave early on through our district ADOX (Atlanta-Decatur-Oxford) will receive a separate statement from them.

We are still accepting donations of clean, gently-used clothing and coats for Jeremy Turner’s Contribute2America homeless ministry (www.contribute2america.org). A collection box will be located in the lobby. For more information or to offer your assistance, see Jeremy after worship.

We clean the church every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. With at least four volunteers, we usually finish in one hour. This is one of our most important service ministries and is a great way to fellowship in a casual setting. Please contact Elisabeth Lloyd (elisabeth@eastsideatl.org). We are also seeking active participants for our Eastside Church arts group at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays, as it gathers for creative activities including painting and writing. For more info, to be added to the arts group email updates, or to suggest creative disciplines you’d like to see included, contact Tyler Jackson (tyler@eastsideatl.org) or Natalie Jackson (natalie@eastsideatl.org). Stick around to hear our worship band practice at 7:00. After practice, the band often heads out to a local pub or restaurant, and all are invited to join them.
