Oakhurst Church Weekly News 03/09/2012
Jeremy and Nicol Turner’s Contribute2America organization is now hosting its Little Five Points homeless ministry every Wednesday, and they need regular, committed volunteers to help serve hot meals and hand out clothing to homeless Atlantans. See Jeremy after worship or go to www.contribute2america.org. We’re also always accepting donations of clean, gently used clothing and coats for the ministry; a box is located in the lobby.
Join us on Saturday, March 24 for our inaugural Eastside Church community Easter Egg Hunt at the Oakhurst Community Garden from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. If you will help out with this event, please see Lani Martz or email her at lani@eastsideatl.org.
If you are interested in being in a small group, there are still some groups that have room. Please email Elisabeth Lloyd at elisabeth@eastsideatl.org to find out where you can plug in to the discussion and fellowship.
We will host another “Craftaganza” craft-making event on Saturday, April 14 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Check out our website and Facebook page for more info coming soon.
Please plan to join us for our Holy Week services. We will have Palm/Passion Sunday, Good Friday at 7:00 p.m., and Resurrection Sunday worship services. Childcare will be provided.
We’re still looking for someone to coordinate an Outreach Team as well as those who want to be on the team. The team would plan different church events open to the community. If you are interested in coordinating or serving on the Outreach Team, see Maria Carr or Lani Martz.
Would you like to get to know a neighbor who is homeless? Want to help someone get connected to the larger community? Care Teams with Intown Collaborative Ministries are your opportunity! Each Care Team consists of 2-3 persons from area churches that are assigned to one homeless client of ICM, getting together once a month and getting to know one another. Activities can include lunch, coffee, conversation, games, walks and exercise, and more. Please contact Maria Carr at maria@intowncm.org if you are interested!
