La Gonave Partnership Exploratory Team

We at Eastside Church are excited to begin a partnership with the La Gonâve Haiti Partnership by sending a team for our first exploratory trip this October. The La Gonâve Haiti Partnership is a “ministry of presence” and a community development partnership between the people of La Gonâve, the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti and United States Partners.

La Gonâve is an island of Haiti located to the west-northwest of Port-au-Prince in the Gulf of Gonâve. Haiti has been called “the land that the world forgot” and La Gonâve has been called “the land that Haiti forgot.” The La Gonâve-Haiti Partnership has a twenty-year history of working side by side with the people of La Gonâve to partner on education, healthcare, nutrition, agriculture, clean water, and economic opportunities. We are especially interested in learning about how we might participate in areas of prenatal health on the island as a whole and in forming a partnership with a specific church community.
